Masanao Kaneta is a Japanese ceramic artist. He is the eighth-generation master of the Hagi-yaki kiln Tenchōzan-gama in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
He pioneered the technique known as 'kuri-nuki' (hollowing out), which involves shaping clay into a form and then hollowing out the interior to complete the piece.
